An average Australian home that has subscribed to 100% accredited GreenPower (including off peak) would save approximately seven tonnes of greenhouse pollution every year which is equivalent to removing almost two cars from the road.

If you had 100% GreenPower, would it matter if you left the lights on when not needed?
Yes, it would matter. Even though it contributes to the development of renewable energy, using GreenPower is not the total solution to global warming. It is equally important to save energy and reduce waste.

GreenPower is part of the solution to climate change – what else can we do?
- Install or top-up insulation in ceilings
- Switch off the second fridge if you have one
- Take shorter showers – keep them under five minutes instead of the eight minute average
- Switch appliances off at the power point wherever possible
- Set thermostat to 18-20 degrees in winter and 26 degrees in summer
- Wash clothes in cold water
- Close off areas that don’t need heating in winter
- Replace standard light globes with energy efficient globes in high use areas
- Seal draughts and gaps around external doors and windows
- Switch off lights when not needed
- When purchasing appliances, ensure they have a high star-rating.
