Australia's first public electric vehicle charge station was recently officially opened by Sydney's Lord Mayor Clover Moore. The charge station is powered by 100% GreenPower supplied by Origin Energy. The station is installed in Glebe and will be used to recharge a converted plug-in hybrid Toyota Prius. It takes 3 hours to recharge the car fully. The car is part of the GoGet car share scheme, it has an electric motor range of 30 km and replaces the equivalent of up to 10 privately owned cars on the road through the sharing arrangements.
