Consultation: GreenPower to pilot certification of renewable gas
GreenPower is developing Australia’s first certification for biomethane and blended hydrogen.
We are now seeking your input into the design of this initiative.
GreenPower is developing a new certification for renewable gas, starting with a two-year pilot in mid-2022.
GreenPower’s pilot will be Australia’s first certification for biomethane and we plan to also include renewable hydrogen that is injected into gas networks.
Thanks to the pilot, gas consumers will be able to directly support renewable gas projects in Australia, reducing their emissions and helping establish new renewable gas production.

We have released a consultation paper and are seeking feedback on the pilot’s design including:
-
what renewable gases should be included and eligibility requirements to join the pilot
-
treatment of upstream emissions
-
interaction with other renewable gas schemes.
Consultation is open until 5pm, Thursday 24 March 2022.
Feedback will inform the design of the pilot and the associated certificate registry. To read the consultation paper and participate visit the certification pilot webpage.
