Have your say about the future of GreenPower
This consultation invites you to provide input into how GreenPower can continue to help Australian consumers support renewable energy.
GreenPower today released a consultation paper following an independent review of the program by consultancy, Common Capital.
“We’re seeking input on how GreenPower can respond to recent market changes and continue to help consumers access accredited energy that is 100% renewable”, Tim Stock, Chair of the National GreenPower Steering Group, said.
“As part of this consultation, we’re looking at the role of GreenPower now and in the near future. We want to see how it can make a bigger impact, including across new areas like hydrogen and biogas.
“It’s more important than ever that renewable energy claims are accredited and audited. This ensures consumers get what they pay for, and to avoid greenwashing.”
The National GreenPower Accreditation Program is an Australia-wide accreditation for renewable electricity products. GreenPower certifies and audits renewable energy generators and electricity retailers. This allows consumers to support renewable energy, even if they can’t install solar panels themselves.
Since GreenPower was founded in 1997, the program has helped hundreds of thousands of consumers buy renewable energy. It has also facilitated over $1 billion investment back into renewable energy projects”.
The consultation is open until 5pm AEST, 22 August 2022. All members of the public are invited to provide input.
